Local Brewery

A well known friend of local history Sam Kanish provided us with a glimpse into the past. Before the corporate world took over, places like Kittanning were self-sufficient in many of their needs. One was the making of beer, to provide locals with a refreshing drink after a hard day of work.

On the left is the Kittanning Brewing Company until Prohibition. Afterward for a period of time it was Kittanning Beverage, as it tried to remain afloat during prohibition and the depression. Later on, it had usage as warehouse by Dean Phipp’s. Today the photo to the right shows it as the lot of Noel Ford. It is hard to believe when looking at the site today, that an actual company could occupy this area.
